Anyone can show at Salt Creek Wranglers, whether they are a member or not! However, there are definite perks to joining! See our Membership page to learn more.
What should I wear to show?
Salt Creek Wranglers is an open show group. All levels of competitors and breeds are welcome! You should wear discipline/event specific attire. Standard show attire for open shows is appreciated to show respect for our judge and fellow competitors. Nothing fancy or expensive is required, but safety should be considered.
For western events, this entails a hat/helmet, show shirt of your choice (whether it's simply a clean button down shirt or something with bling), belt, jeans, and boots. Tack should be clean and safe. We find this article helpful if you'd like more specifics.
For English events, this means a helmet/hunt cap, hunt jacket, shirt with collar, breeches, belt, and boots. Tack should be clean and safe. We find this article helpful if you'd like more specifics.
Exception: We do have casual/playday shows where casual (at home) attire is welcome. At a minimum, you should wear safe attire (boots, breeches/jeans, and a hat/helmet) to playday shows. T-shirts, fun outfits, etc. are allowed! The showbill will specify when there is a playday!
At an open show, can I show in both walk/trot and classes with a canter/lope?
If I am awarded 1st place, do I get a trophy? Where do I get trophies/ribbons?
If a trophy is meaningful to you, we encourage you to pick one out in the show office. To control costs, we only have a very limited supply and encourage everyone to donate back trophies that say Salt Creek Wranglers.
If we don’t have a volunteer to hand out ribbons at the conclusion of each class, please visit the show office and take your ribbon any time.
How do I collect my payback?
If you placed 1st, 2nd, or 3rd at an open show, you will earn a small amount of money back. Payback may be collected at our year end awards. If payback is not collected at the award night, it is forfeited.
Can I volunteer at a show?
YES! Wranglers couldn't run without volunteers. See our Volunteer page for more information, or simply ask at the office on the day of a show to see what needs done!
